Coufal
Doesn’t seem quite the player he was last year.

Prefer to see Johnson there for the short-term at least.

Maybe it is, yes. Personally I'd go with someone who can defend ahead of someone who can run fast

Re: Coufal
I think he’s suffering from being one of those players who hasn’t had a break for ages

Came into us, had that weird stop/start condensed season last season

Then had the euros

Then came back, played loads, got injured and got Covid.

There are issues with our team but coufal really isn’t one of them

Re: Coufal
Rashford came on for Elanga. Rashford is fast. I get why you might put Fredricks on who is probably one of the fastest players in the whole league.

So maybe thats why?

Re: Coufal
Wrong. They brought on Rashford at 62 mins, 8 minutes before Fredericks came on.

Nonetheless you have made my point. It was obvious that they would bring on more offensive players so it still begs the question, why Fredericks

Re: Coufal
He brought on Fredricks at 70
They brought on Martial, Cavani and Rashford at 82.

So there subs had nothing to do with ours.
They just have a ridiculous amount of quality on their bench.

Re: Coufal
But when your opponent brings on Martial, Cavani and Rashford to ask questions the answer is never going to be Fredericks

Re: Coufal
Why did Moyes sub him yesterday? Didn’t look injured, had a funny look on his face when he came off! Is he unhappy with his contract and/or feeling unappreciated?

Yeah thats the first thing I'd think!!!!!

More likely that he just didn't like being subbed as he was playing ok.....

..but yes lets look for deeper problems about his contract or how unhappy he is at the club!!!

Re: Coufal
I thought Coufal was taken off because of his apparent inability to find a player in the same shirt

Re: Coufal
I think Moyes put Fredricks on to see if he could get some pace and width and outrun Man U's left back as everyone gets a bit tired towards the end.

I think Moyes is actually trying to win games by thinking out of the box. Thats why he uses Masuaku, or Fredricks etc.. He's trying to mix things up. I get it.

My issue is that you shouldn't really try to win a 3 pointer with 5 minutes to go. Its probably the only time where I'd say dont go for the win in a league match. The loss is just amplified because we are competing with them directly in the league positions. A draw would have been ok for both teams.

Re: Coufal
He did okay yesterday, I don't think he is much of a problem. I think we are an additional 4-5 very decent players off from being able to compete with the top 4. Our squad is just too small and we only really have 12 decent players. Yesterday the Mancs bought on Cavani, Rashford and Martial - we only had Fredericks to come on...

We´ve got many far more urgent priorities before Coufal!

Re: Coufal
Started the season ok, but picked up a groin injury that went on for a while, and then even when he was back to fitness Johnson kept his place for a bit because he was playing well. Then more recently had COVID.

He hasn't been near the levels of last season, but this one has been a bit stop start for him.

Hopefully can get back to his best but wouldn't have a problem with Johnson getting a run of games either.

Heard him being interviewed on five live yesterday. His English is very good so don't think there is any language issue.

Re: Coufal
Johnson has done really well this season but you'd have to. R some sort of dickhead to want him ahead of Coufal.

Re: Coufal
Came back after COVID after playing virtually every game since he joined plus in the Euros.
Surprised if he didnt have a dip as he gets his fitness back.
The break now will be good for that.

Re: Coufal
Opinions but I agree Johnson is the better defender. But Coufal is the better attacking full back currently and it’s an area Johnson needs to keep working on. However, if you want a solid defender who gives very little away and is physically dominant in challenges/ aerially young Ben is the yer man. He should become first choice in a season or two imo

Far better yesterday than before

He needs Soucek in the team. It’s a language thing, I’m sure of it.
